Privacy Policy
Effective October 9, 2026.
Grazing Theory Lavish Charcuterie ("Grazing Theory", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through grazingtheory.com, why we collect it, who helps us handle it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website and the emails we send from it. It does not cover other websites we link to, such as Instagram, Facebook, Yelp or Google.
What We Collect
When You Place an Order or Buy Event Tickets
- Your name, email address and phone number, so we can confirm your order and reach you about it.
- Pickup or delivery details: the date and time, and for deliveries, the address.
- What you tell us: event details, dietary needs or allergies, gift notes and order notes. Allergy and dietary information can be sensitive; we use it only to prepare your order safely.
- For event tickets, the names of your guests, if you give them, for the guest list.
Card payments, including Apple Pay and Google Pay, are handled by Square. Your card details go directly to Square through their secure payment form; we never see or store your full card number. Square may collect information about your device and browser on the payment form to prevent fraud.
When You Ask About an Event or Wedding, Book One, or Order as a Winery
- Your name, email and phone number, and what you tell us about your event (date, venue, guest count, dietary needs, budget, messages), so we can reply, quote and plan.
- For winery accounts, the business and contact details we use to deliver your orders.
When You Chat With Brie, Our Automated Assistant
- Brie is an automated assistant powered by artificial intelligence, not a person. To reply, the messages you type are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, which processes them on our behalf to generate answers.
- We don't keep a copy of ordinary chats. If you book, order or ask Brie to pass your request to Gina, the conversation and the details you shared are sent to our team by email and saved with your request so we can follow up.
- To stop misuse, we count how many messages are sent from each connection using a one-way scrambled code (a "hash") of your internet (IP) address. We don't store the address itself.
- While you browse, the chat remembers which boards and collections you've looked at during this visit, only on your device, so Brie can offer help with them. That short list is sent with your messages only if you chat, and it's cleared when you close the tab. If you close Brie's little "can I help?" note, she won't show it again for a week.
- Please don't share payment card numbers, passwords or other sensitive information in the chat. Payments are always taken on the secure payment form.
When You Sign Up for Emails
- Your email address and, if you choose to share them, your first name and the things you're interested in.
- Where and when you signed up, and the consent wording you agreed to.
When You Browse
- On your device: your browser remembers your basket, your conversation with Brie (until you close the tab), and whether you closed our email sign-up tab. This stays on your device; we don't use it to track you.
- Basic technical information: like every website, our hosting provider receives your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, so it can deliver the site and protect it from attacks. We may use privacy-friendly website statistics from Cloudflare that count visits without cookies and without identifying you.
- When you sign an event agreement: your typed name, any signature you draw, your photography choice, and the date, time, IP address and browser you signed from. We keep these with the signed agreement as a record of your signature.
- We don't use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or cross-site tracking, and we don't let advertisers collect information on our website.
How We Use It
- To prepare, deliver and support your order or event, and to send receipts, confirmations and status updates (including a private link to follow your order).
- To answer your questions and send quotes.
- To work out delivery prices from your address.
- If you subscribed, to send you news about our boards, workshops and events. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe.
- To keep our website secure and prevent fraud and misuse.
- To keep the business records the law requires, such as sales and tax records.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
Who Helps Us
We share information only with the companies that help run our business, only what they need, and only to provide their service to us:
- Square: payments, orders, receipts and gift cards.
- Cloudflare: hosts this website, stores order, request and sign-up records, and protects the site.
- Resend: sends our order emails and newsletters.
- Mapbox: looks up delivery addresses and venues to work out distance and drive time from our kitchen.
- Anthropic: provides the AI that powers Brie.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone's safety, or if our business is sold or transferred (the new owner would be bound by this policy).
How Long We Keep It
We keep order and booking records (including signed event agreements) for as long as we need them to serve you and to meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations. We keep newsletter sign-ups until you unsubscribe, then keep only a record that you unsubscribed so we don't email you again. Information stored on your device stays there until you clear it or, for the chat, until you close the tab.
Your Choices and Rights
- Emails: unsubscribe at any time with the link in any newsletter, or email us. You'll still receive messages about orders you place.
- Review, correct or delete: email info@grazingtheory.com to ask what information we hold about you, or to correct or delete it. We'll confirm the request comes from you, and reply within 45 days. We may need to keep some records, such as orders, where the law requires.
- Your device: you can clear your basket and chat at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
- California residents: California law gives you rights over your personal information, including the right to know what we collect and how we use it, and to request correction or deletion. We don't sell or share personal information for advertising, and we will not treat you differently for using your rights. To make a request, email us.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Because we don't track you across websites or over time for advertising, our website treats every visitor the same whether or not your browser sends a "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal.
Keeping It Safe
We collect as little as we need, use secure (HTTPS) connections, never handle your card number, and limit access to the people who need it to prepare and deliver your order. Our staff tools are behind a separate sign-in. No method of storing or sending information is perfectly secure, but we take care to protect yours.
Children
Our website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes to This Policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the effective date at the top. If the changes are significant, we'll make that clear on our website.
